Grand Opening of New Rockland Store & Donation Center

Goodwill Celebrates Grand Opening of Rockland Goodwill Store

New building features donation drive through and green construction

Rockland, ME – Goodwill Industries of Northern New England invites shoppers and donors to the Grand Opening celebration of its new Rockland store and donation center on Friday, September 18 at 9 a.m.  Celebration activities include a ribbon cutting ceremony at 9 am with Mayor Deborah McNeil, door prizes every half hour from 9am-2pm, and drawings for local Rockland restaurant gift certificates and a $100 Visa gift card.

The new Rockland store is located at 202 Camden Street in the Harbor Plaza.  Shoppers will enjoy a brand new building that features a new color scheme and convenient donation drive-through.  The new store also accepts used computers and parts through the ReConnect computer recycling program.  The store was constructed with several environmentally-friendly features, including an energy-efficient HVAC system, updated flooring, and “green” windows to offset energy consumption.  The building is also engineered for Energy Star compliance, which means Goodwill will be able to apply for Energy Star status after one year of operation.

The new Rockland store is 13,800 square feet, which provides much needed floor space and allows Goodwill to offer the community a more varied and exciting shopping experience.  Whether you are looking for a treasure or a fabulous new outfit, the new Rockland store will offer a wide variety of goods to peruse—clothing, books, household items, furniture, jewelry, and more!

The success at the previous location bodes well for the new store.  Randy Finamore, Retail Director, notes, “Through proven support from customers in Rockland and the greater Midcoast region, we are very confident the store will be a huge success.”  Store and donation center hours are Monday through Saturday 9 am – 9 pm and Sunday 9 am – 7 pm.

“We are very excited about the relocation of our Rockland store,” noted Michael Coughlin, Executive Director at Goodwill Industries. “This new store provides much needed space for the many generous donations we receive.  In this, our 76th year, we continue to expand our retail operations to further our mission.”  The new Rockland Goodwill store has created over 15 new jobs and now employs over 30 full- and part-time staff.
