Goodwill Celebrates Grand Opening of Ellsworth Goodwill Store & Donation Center
First Goodwill store in Hancock County;
Features donation drive-through
Ellsworth, ME – Goodwill Industries of Northern New England invites shoppers and donors to the Grand Opening celebration of its new Ellsworth store and donation center on Friday, November 20 at 9 a.m. Celebration activities include a ribbon cutting ceremony at 9 am, door prizes every half hour from 9am-2pm, and drawings for local Ellsworth restaurant gift certificates and Visa gift cards.
The new Goodwill store is located at 15 Downeast Highway (near the intersection of Routes 1 and 3). Shoppers will enjoy a newly-constructed building that features a convenient donation drive-through. The new store also accepts used computers and parts through the ReConnect computer recycling program. The store was constructed with several environmentally-friendly features, including an energy-efficient HVAC system, updated flooring, reuse of the steel frame from the previous building, and “green” windows to offset energy consumption. The building is also engineered for Energy Star compliance, which means Goodwill will be able to apply for Energy Star status after one year of operation.
At 14,000 square feet, the store will offer a variety of donated and new items. Whether you are looking for a treasure or a fabulous new outfit, the Ellsworth Goodwill store will offer a wide variety of goods to peruse—clothing, books, household items, furniture, and jewelry. Over 10,000 items will be added each week.
Goodwill is new in the Ellsworth community. The success of Goodwill stores in nearby Bangor, Belfast, and Brewer bodes well for the new store. Randy Finamore, Retail Director, notes, “Through proven support from customers in Bangor and the Midcoast, we are very confident the store will be a huge success in Ellsworth and the greater Downeast community.” Store and donation center hours are Monday through Saturday 9 am – 9 pm and Sunday 9 am – 7 pm.
“We are very excited to plant roots in the Ellsworth community,” noted Michael Coughlin, Executive Director at Goodwill Industries. “In this, our 76th year, we continue to expand our retail operations to further our mission.” The new Ellsworth Goodwill store has created over 25 new jobs for Ellsworth.
