Goodwill Opens Donation Express in Scarborough
New location to Increase Donor Accessibility

Portland — Goodwill Industries of Northern New England has announced the grand opening of a new Goodwill Donation Express in the Hannaford Shopping Plaza in Scarborough (31 Hannaford Drive). Opening Thursday, December 15, the new Donation Express will replace the Attended Donation Center (ADC) housed at Dunstan Corner (this location closes December 14). The Goodwill Donation Express will be open 8 am to 9 pm, seven days a week.

At 2,800 square feet, the new Express model increases accessibility and convenience for donors and provides increased space for employees to sort and process donations. When a donor drives up, Goodwill staff will help unload donations and give donors a tax receipt. Donations are sorted and then shipped to Goodwill’s central warehouse in Gorham for distribution to stores.

“We are very excited to open a new donation center that makes it easy to donate,” noted Bob Frederick, Director of Logistics and Operations. “Goodwill relies on the generosity of our donors. Donations are sold in our 26 retail stores in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont, which help to fund our programs that get people back to work and receive the support they need to lead independent lives.” In 2010, Goodwill launched the Donate Movement, a public awareness initiative that educates consumers about how donated goods have the power to make a difference in people’s lives, strengthen communities and create a healthier environment. Goodwill reminds consumers that just as there are things you recycle, there are things you donate.

A list of accepted donations can be found on Goodwill’s website: www.goodwillnne.org/donate.
