Goodwill’s Good Bridges Mentoring Program Seeks Volunteers

Program helps women with a criminal background find work, transition back to communities

Concord — Goodwill is celebrating the success of its adult mentoring program, “Good Bridges” with a barbecue on Tuesday, June 21, at 4 pm at the Women’s Halfway House, 60 Iron Works Road, in Concord, NH. The press is invited to learn more about the Good Bridges program and how New Hampshire residents can become mentors. Invited guests include mentors and mentees, Goodwill staff, representatives of the Concord Human Resources Association, the Commissioner of Corrections and staff from Good Bridges partnering agencies, Easter Seals and Harbor Homes.

Good Bridges is a new Goodwill program based in New Hampshire that helps women with a criminal background find work and successfully transition back to the community. Goodwill works with volunteer mentors in the Concord, Manchester and Nashua areas to help women prepare for the world of work. The mentoring program matches women with volunteer mentors who work with individuals one-on-one on career awareness and work readiness skills. The program is looking for volunteer mentors. To learn more, please visit www.goodwillnne.org or call Edda Cantor at (603) 369-3010.

Mentoring matches are made while women are nearing the end of their sentence to assist with transitioning to the community.  All volunteer mentors receive full training and program support from Goodwill.

If you are interested in covering this event, all press need to pass a criminal background check to enter the Women’s Halfway House. Please contact Jeff Lyons, Public Information Officer for the NH Department of Corrections at jlyons@nhdoc.state.NH.us or call (603) 271-5602.
