Goodwill Industries of Northern New England and Training Resource Center Sign Merger Documents
PORTLAND, ME – Goodwill Industries of Northern New England and Portland-based Training Resource Center (TRC) signed merger documents on October 1. Under the merger agreement, Goodwill has integrated TRC’s workforce and economic development programs under the Goodwill umbrella of services to focus their combined resources to help strengthen the skills of the region’s workforce.
TRC, founded in the mid-1980’s, specializes in services for unemployed and underemployed individuals. The agency currently manages Workforce Investment Act programs in Cumberland County for Coastal Counties Workforce, Inc. TRC also runs AmeriCorps programs in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, and New York, co-manages a housing facility for homeless Veterans in Biddeford, Maine, and partnered with Goodwill earlier this year to begin providing job training and placement for older workers under the Senior Community Service Employment (SCSEP) for the Maine Department of Health and Human Services. All of TRC’s thirty employees have been transferred to Goodwill.
