The Goodwill store on St. John Street (Union Station Plaza) in Portland will be closing its doors on Saturday, March 20.
Goodwill has made the decision to close the store because the lease is up on the space and the landlord had asked for a significant increase in rent that we cannot afford for that location. It was a decision we took seriously, knowing that the store on St. John Street was convenient for so many, but it was a fiscally responsible and necessary decision nonetheless. We are delighted that all St. John Street employees have taken positions within Goodwill.
Goodwill continues to look for other retail opportunities on the Portland peninsula. We would like to sincerely thank our loyal donors and customers who frequented the St. John Street store over the last 15 years. We encourage people to visit our other stores on Forest Avenue (Portland), in Falmouth, in the Mill Creek Plaza (South Portland), and the new flagship store opening in South Portland at the end of March.
Many thanks to everyone for your continued support of Goodwill's programs. You enable Goodwill to help our neighbors find and keep jobs, give people a second chance, and empower people to be self sufficient. Thank you.
