Goodwill’s Stateside Service Corps Seeks Partner Organizations

New AmeriCorps Program to Serve Veterans in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont
Northern New England — Goodwill’s Stateside Service Corps, a new AmeriCorps program dedicated to assisting veterans connect to benefits, resources and employment opportunities, seeks nonprofit and municipal organizations who are interested in collaboration. Goodwill plans on placing 30 AmeriCorps members at organizations throughout northern New England in Fall 2012.Goodwill currently manages three AmeriCorps programs that help strengthen local communities and organizations in northern New England. AmeriCorps volunteers are placed in local nonprofits, municipalities, schools and fire and rescue organizations. The new Stateside Service Corps aims to serve a growing population of returning service men and women. “There is a huge need for returning veterans to get connected to the resources they need to find a job once returning from deployment,” noted Steve Niles, AmeriCorps Program Manager. “Organizations interested in hosting an AmeriCorps member to start or expand current veteran outreach initiatives are encouraged to contact us to learn more about this opportunity.”
