Host Site Experiences with the Community Resource Corps:

"The Girl's Point of View Book club was only offered at the Vinalhaven School to 20 high school girls five years ago. Thanks to the hard work of three talented AmeriCorps Members, the Club is offered in 80 schools around the state. There are now just under 1,000 girls participating. The program has also grow from serving just high school girls to offering programs for 4th through 12th grade. There are also over 160 women leading these programs."
Mary Orear, Mainely Girls, Rockport

"Last year, we worked with several AmeriCorps volunteers to oversee and help sustain our growing program needs. The quality of volunteers we have had each year has been outstanding. We are now transitioning these positions to seasonal, full-time staff as our funding sources allow. I'd like to think that we have provided AmeriCorps members with a valuable experience, as we have integrated them not only into our organization, but into our community as well."
Bob Moore, Friends of the Cobbossee Watershed, Augusta

"Our AmeriCorps member provides us with the opportunity to do outreach to the broader community. Outreach creates community collaborations to improve service delivery and create new programs. The member helps provide another voice for the agency by linking our services to the community. We have seen an increase in fundraised dollars and an increase in media interest and coverage for our events. The member's community connections result in greater awareness and knowledge of the availability of our services to the general public and populations we serve."
Patsy Murphy, Eastern Maine AIDS Network, Bangor
