Goodwill offers community support services throughout the state of Maine for individuals with disabilities or other barriers and for individuals who are deaf and hard of hearing. The goal of Goodwill’s four day programs is to empower individuals to live and work as independently as possible in their communities.
Goodwill also partners with the National Multiple Sclerosis Society to manage the MS Home LINKS Care Management program, which assists individuals with multiple sclerosis in Maine
Community Skills (South Portland)
Goodwill’s Community Skills program offers life skills training and community access opportunities for individuals. Participants receive assistance and training in the areas of behavioral and social skills, communication, self and environmental awareness and safety at home and in the community. The “Community Connections” component of the program focuses on pre-vocational skills and learning.
Deaf Services (Portland)
Goodwill is one of Maine’s largest and most experienced providers of Deaf services. We offer case management, community integration, residential and in-home support programs for deaf individuals with mental illness and/or developmental disabilities.
Community Integration Services for the Deaf (CISD)
CISD is a community integration program for Deaf adults living with severe and persistent mental illness. Participants receive assistance with symptom management, housing, financial management, community resources and peer relationships.
Deaf Community Skills Program (DCSP)
DCSP is a community support program for Deaf adults with developmental disabilities. The program provides participants with training and support in life skills, employment preparation and community access.
Lifeworks (Lewiston)
Goodwill’s Lifeworks programs help adults in the Lewiston area who live on their own, but need additional support while at work, with life skills and in developing community connections. Lifeworks also offers pre-vocational training and support, including career skills training, job shadowing opportunities, interview skills and resume-writing.
SELF (Augusta)
Goodwill’s SELF program provides training and support in personal, social and job readiness skills through recreational activities in the community. Activities include hiking, bowling, swimming and cooking. SELF also offers a pre-vocational curriculum that enables staff to work with individuals on resume-writing and job exploration.
