Brain Injury Residential Services
In 1988, Goodwill opened the first residential program in Maine specifically for individuals with acquired brain injuries. Since then, our residential services have grown. We now operate six homes and also provide supported living services.
In each home, residents establish the routines and guidelines, which help the communal living arrangement succeed. Residents participate in their home's essential operations of shopping, meal preparation, and home repair. In addition, each resident has personal goals based upon individual skills, interests, and needs. These goals are included in their person-centered plan.
Services in the Residences include:
- 24-hour direct support staff
- Recreational opportunities and outings
- Support with transportation needs
- Case Management Services
- Skill training in personal care & community access
- Vocational training & job placement
- Comprehensive NeuroRehabilitation Services through BaySide & WestSide
The achievement of personal goals is enhanced as each resident has the opportunity to access clinical services at Goodwill's NeuroRehab programs (BaySide and WestSide). With the range of community services made possible by this unique combination of programs, individuals experience better carry-over strategies into all aspects of their lives.
The Residential Services are licensed by the Department of Health and Human Services.
