A New Start for Me, and These Clothes!
New jobs are always a new adventure, right? So when I accepted a new position last week at a slightly more professional office, I thought, perfect – time to go shopping! With this in mind, I thought I would add another challenge and try a trend I’ve been secretly admiring all summer: color blocking!
If I’m going to be corporate, I need to spice it up a little bit. Plus, I’ve been wanting to create a crazy colorful outfit, but have resisted, so here’s my chance! When I went to Goodwill I had a goal of getting a few mid length skirts (because I have none ) with really bright or fun colors and then matching them up with an even brighter top I already owned.
I perused the aisles for a few minutes when I found this amazing bright pink skirt that I had a feeling would look great with a blue t-shirt I had. Really the perfect bright/pretty color blocking colors.
Then I stumbled upon this vintage skirt. It was a bit darker than I was looking for, but with a belt (to cover the waist band) I thought it could work. And it did! I accessorized with some inexpensive jewelry and shoes I already had.
An added bonus were these orange shoes I bought a few years ago. I realized they worked really well with the whole color blocking thing and while I probably won’t wear them to work, I will definitely wear them with this outfit at some point!
Now possibly my best find because of its quality, was a Banana Republic jacket for $7.99!! It didn’t even look like it had been worn and must be at least $40 at the store. It looks like I was on a pink hunt at the store, but I swear it was a complete coincidence. It’s pretty strange I found two items in the exact same bright color. Needless to say I do not plan on wearing them together! But, the jacket is perfect for the fall and for a professional environment so I snatched it up!
Even though I bought these items with a trend in mind, I know I will wear and keep them for a long time. Now that I have a few new duds, I’m feeling ready to start this new chapter. And all for $16!
