Organizing on a Budget: The Kitchen
Here are a few storage solutions from my kitchen:
I like see-through glass jars and store all kinds of food in these. In kitchen stores these runs from $5 and up. At Goodwill they run from $3 and down. All of these were less than $3. Sure makes a cabinet nicer when you see this rather than garish boxes and bags falling over. I also store dried beans, rice and pasta in jars like these, and I always know when I run low.
Another collection of various containers, thrifted and reused jam jars, and these hold various spices that I use a lot in my cooking. However, the neat thing here is that it all fits inside a wooden letter tray from Goodwill. I like this system because it allows me to move all my spices to the counter when I am cooking and put the whole thing away when I am done. When not in use, this tray sits on top of the fridge where it actually looks sort of decorative. The teak letter tray was less than $5.
This thrifted cake carrier has a second function when not in use. It holds my ”seasonal” dishes that we use outside in the summer. This is a great way to maximize space when storing bulky items. My dishes are protected and remain dust free and fit better in my kitchen cabinet. By the way, everything you see in that cabinet is thrifted.
