A guest writer from Nostalgic in Maine shares what she purchased with her $5 off coupon – what did you get? Tomorrow (Saturday, July 23) is the last day you can use your coupon!
What I Bought with my $5 off Goodwill Coupon
As you know, I love a good deal, coupons and thrift stores, and when Goodwill came out with their Summer Special $5 off $25 coupon, I was thrilled. Today my daughter and I headed to the South Portland Goodwill by the mall, and our budget was $25. Of that I gave my daughter a small allowance, which always makes for a more fun shopping trip for little ones in tow. And let me tell you, today was the perfect day to escape the heat and go shopping at a big air-conditioned treasure house! Here are our fantastic finds, which if I were to buy them retail or off some online auction site, I would have paid way over $100.
These beautiful large botanical tea tiles by American artist Mary Lou Goertzen were only $0.99 a piece! Made in Portugal, they are in great condition and will be perfect in my simple kitchen that sports an intentional vintage vibe. As a reference point, china featuring Goertzen’s watercolors are quite popular on eBay, and on replacements.com, a single tea tile in the Poinsettia pattern costs $39.99. My designs are all out of stock. Major score in my book!
Next we headed to the book section, and my daughter went straight for the kids’ corner. This was her selection at $0.99.
This book retails normally for $14.99. Good choice, kiddo!
Here are my selections for $2.99 and $0.99 respectively.
The canoe book is full of beautiful illustrations which I will give to a friend who loves old wooden canoes. Good score too since the used versions of this book start at $23.00 on amazon. The Maine humor book is for me while lounging on my deck on a lazy summer afternoon.
Next we headed to the kids’ clothes and the toys. I found an Old Navy shirt for my daughter ($1.99), and she found a brand new Littlest Pet Shop purse for $0.99. Can you tell she loves frogs?
Then we headed to the shoe section, originally looking for sandals for my daughter. No luck there, but major treasures awaited in my shoe section – Danskos! In great condition and in my size, I could hardly believe my luck. If you are familiar with this brand, you know you cannot get them for less than $100 at the shoe stores. Even on eBay they cost upwards of $50, and that’s not including the expensive shipping. Here the price tag was $12.99, which is pricy for Goodwill, but amazing for Danskos. And again, like any ol’ happy Cinderella – my size! It was obviously meant to be.
And with that, our shopping trip was complete – we had spent about $26, and we were ready to check out and use our coupon. Not a bad haul for $20 and change!
How are you spending your $5 off $25 Goodwill Coupon?
