S. Burlington Grand Opening?

This Friday, December 11!

South Burlington Pictures 003That’s right, the Grand Opening of the new Goodwill store and donation center in S. Burlington, Vermont, is set for this Friday.  Doors open at 9 am and the morning and early afternoon will be filled with prizes, raffle drawings, and a special guest appearance by the Goodwill mascot!

The new Goodwill store is located at 1080 Shelburne Road (the site of the former Tuscan Kitchen).  The store was constructed with several ‘green’ features.  To help reduce heating costs, the frame of the building is composed of hollow Styrofoam blocks that are made with 60% recycled materials.  In addition to an energy-efficient HVAC system and updated flooring, the building also features salvaged materials from the former Tuscan Kitchen building.  Items such as steel beams and electrical fixtures were reused in the new store.  The building is also engineered for Energy Star compliance, which means Goodwill will be able to apply for Energy Star status after one year of operation.

At 16,500 square feet, the store will offer a variety of donated and new mascot 2items.  Whether you are looking for a treasure or a fabulous new outfit, the South Burlington Goodwill store will offer a wide variety of goods to peruse—clothing, books, household items, furniture, and jewelry.  Over 10,000 items will be added each week.

We hope to see you at the Grand Opening!  You can RSVP to the event on our Facebook page.

Grand Opening in Rockland

Rockland New Store Updated for WebWhat a beautiful week it has been!  The good weather should continue right through Friday, when we celebrate the Grand Opening of our new Rockland store and donation center. Celebration activities include a ribbon cutting ceremony at 9am, door prizes every half hour from 9am-2pm, and drawings for local Rockland restaurant gift cards and a $100 Visa gift card.

This new store is replacing the smaller store we had in Rockland for the past twelve years. We are moving just down the street to 202 Camden Street. There is going to be more room, a drive-through donation area, a new color scheme, and a several environmentally-friendly features, such as an energy efficient HVAC system and windows.

The building is also engineered to be Energy Star compliant, which means after we measure our utility usage in the first year, we will be able to apply for the Energy Star status.

We hope to see you there!  RSVP on our Facebook page.

Celebrating in Waterville

calendar November 11th, 2008 posted by Michelle Smith (152 total)

What a day! Goodwill had its grand opening of the Waterville store last Friday. The store was packed from open to close, the energy was positive, and we gave away some great prizes and a $100 gas card to one lucky winner! See what this one Waterville resident won in the raffle–and it just so happened to be her birthday!

Here are some pictures from the big day:

New Goodwill Waterville Store Opens Tomorrow!

calendar November 6th, 2008 posted by Michelle Smith (152 total)

Hey Mainers! Tomorrow is the Grand Opening of our new store in Waterville! We are having festivities and give-aways from 9 am to 2 pm.

If you are in the area, stop by!

When: Friday, November 7, 9-2

Where: 10 Concourse West, Waterville

The new store is located in the former Brooks Pharmacy building. The former pharmacy pick-up is now our donation drive-thru! The new space is nearly triple in size as the former location, but the convenience of an in-twon location with free parking will continue Goodwill’s contribution to the vibrancy of Waterville’s downtown economy.

Also, check out Bootstraps for a great post about thrift store hunting and Goodwill! Thank you to Sharon at Raising Maine for writing about us.
