Hey Portland!  Be sure to stop by the SPACE Gallery at 538 Congress Street tomorrow evening, Tuesday, May 12, from 5:30-8:30 pm for a unique event!

This  one-of-a-kind Greendrinks event born from the combined resources of Space Gallery, Rose Street, and Goodwill Industries of Northern New England. Come network with environmentally-minded Portlanders, while enjoying locally brewed beer, and browsing a selection of items from area Goodwill stores, specifically chosen with you in mind. Bring your wallets!

Our Goodwill boutique will feature hip clothing, unique jewelery, and used bikes – just in time for spring riding. Arrive with an item to donate, and receive a ticket for the night’s raffle drawing.

Thanks to everyone who stopped by for Downtown Worker Appreciation Day yesterday. Shannon Bryan from MaineToday wrote a great entry about it. Check out all those Goodwill bags given away! Downtown Worker Day was a partnership between Portland’s Downtown District and Portland Buy Local.

A reminder to our readers–this Sunday, October 26 is the last day you can donate a gently used sweater or coat to Banana Republic and receive a 30% coupon. The BR’s in Nashua, Salem, & Portsmouth NH, S.Portland, ME, and Burlington, VT will accept your donations.

And as you know, Halloween is one week away and I have yet to finalize my costume. If you are in a similar situation, check out our guide to affordable and creative costumes. I know I will be frantically searching Goodwill’s offerings this weekend. While you are there, be sure to ask about our Trick or Treasure deal. For every dollar you donate, you receive a “scratch” ticket that may offer you some great savings on your purchase. The funds we raise will help provide capital improvements to Goodwill’s group homes.

Do you work in downtown Portland, Maine?  Tomorrow is your lucky day!  Portland’s Downtown District and Portland Buy Local have teamed up to bring back Downtown Worker Appreciation Day.  From 7:30-9:30 am, you can stop by three different locations and pick up some free coffee and treats donated by local businesses.  You can also pick up a free goodie bag (keep an eye out for the reusable Goodwill bags!) containing coupons and discounts at local stores.
