Halloween! Last Minute Costume Ideas

Dear readers,

We are down to the wire! Halloween is just a few days away. Don’t have your costume yet? Don’t panic! Eva from Nifty Thrifty Goodwill shares SIX costume ideas she put together in less than two hours – and everything she bought is from Goodwill!

Halloween! Last Minute Costume Ideas

It happens every year – you don’t realize it’s Halloween until just a day or two beforehand and then you don’t have a costume. Well, I have the solution. These six costumes are ones I put together in less than an hour and a half and I paid $60 for all of them.  They range from super easy to more complicated.  If you’re finding yourself in this quite familiar position, take note from these pictures and get yourself over to your local Goodwill store!

Nurse

This nurse costume is probably the easiest costume to put together.  My Goodwill has a section for scrubs and they’re super cheap.  If you are going to be following kids all night trick or treating this costume is great because you can throw on some sneakers.  Want to make it scary?  Pick up a bottle of fake blood and splatter yourself with it.

Hugh Hefner

Wearing a robe is incredibly comfortable, and probably why Hugh Hefner does it all the time.  Take a hint from him and find a red satin robe.  I paired it with slippers, but a pipe and a sailor hat would make this costume even better.

Crazy Cat Lady

This is another simple yet fun costume: the crazy cat lady.  I found this shirt that says ‘Saving the world one kitty at a time”.  You can find all kinds of funny cat shirts and sweaters at Goodwill.  I paired it with some elastic waist jeans and put my hair in rollers.  Goodwills also frequently have stuffed animals so you could pick up a bunch of stuffed animal cats and carry them around.

American Tourist

I love this costume: the American tourist.  I found a tacky Hawaiian shirt, the same elastic waist jeans, a camera case, and an outdoorsy hat.  This is also a great costume idea for a couple!  You can pretty much wear the same thing, the tackier the better.

 Audrey Hepburn

A bit more complicated is Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast At Tiffany’s.  I found a black cocktail dress, a cheap pearl necklace, a little mini crown, and some big great sunglasses (not in the picture).  The hair is the complicated part…you can find great instructional videos online.  Also, swipe some thick black eyeliner on to complete the look. Oh, don’t forget the long, black cigarette holder!

 Olivia Newton John (Sandy, Grease)

Last but not least, Olivia Newton John as Sandy in Grease.  You need some tight black pants, preferably some sort of leather or those liquid leggings that have been popular recently.  Wear a black tank top with off the shoulder sleeves tucked into the leggings.  A big black belt around your waist and a black leather jacket will complete the outfit part.  She has a huge blonde perm in the movie, which is hard to pull off.  I’d recommend getting a wig.  Add a ton of black eye makeup and bright red lips and shoes and you’re ready!
