Halloween! Mad Men Style

Dear readers,

Can you believe that TOMORROW is the Ghoulwill Ball!? We have our decorations, costumes and everything in order. Ashley from Sweet William wrote up a preview of her couples costume she is wearing to the ball – none other than Betty and Don Draper from Mad Men. Want to see how she pulled it together? You will have to come to the Ball this Saturday, October 22 – tickets are still available!

Halloween! Mad Men Style

Finding a Halloween costume is something I truly hate. I am so bad at coming up with an idea. I put too much pressure on finding the ‘perfect’ costume that it always flops. I wait until the very last minute because I can’t decide and then I run around like a mad woman until I have to settle on something (see two years ago.. a kitty? Please!)

And for the past 12 years that I have been in a relationship, I have wanted to do a couples costume, but again, the same thing always happens!

But not this year! This summer I decided on my costume! (tip: no matter what time of year, if you think of a costume idea, write it down!) You may think this is an easy choice or that it has already been done, but I don’t care! When I’ve spent days daydreaming about the clothes and counting down the minutes until I could watch another episode, I knew this would give me the perfect excuse to go all out, Draper style, that is! If you don’t know what I am talking about, you better get on Netflix and watch all episodes of Man Men ASAP!

Now the only problem is finding the PERFECT outfit, the one I have been dreaming about for months. Think full skirts, suits, short boxy jackets, and cropped trousers. It was not an easy task for me to find the look I needed. I spent hours shopping the racks of multiple Goodwill stores for clothes that Betty would swoon over.

Luckily my other half had an easier time dressing up as Don. All he had to do find is a nice suit and tie combo.

Wonder what we went with for our sixties inspired looks? Wonder what type of Betty I am? Well, you will just have to wait! Look for us as the happy Draper duo at the Ghoulwill Ball this Saturday at Port City Music Hall! And if for some reason you have to miss the Halloween event of the year, check back here next week where we will show off our look!
