What better way to kick off the week before the Ghoulwill Ball than a Halloween-inspired post from Laura at Fore Front Fashion? Laura raided her closet this past week and came up with three creative costumes for the ball – which one should she wear?
SHOPPING MY CLOSET FOR HALLOWEEN
By Laura Serino, Fore Front Fashion
I’m one of those last-minute Halloween people. I’m envious of the folks that start planning their costumes weeks, months ahead of time. I tend to throw together a costume the same day that I’m supposed to go to a Halloween bash.
The first thing I do for inspiration is literally rifle through my closet. I usually have zero ideas in mind and I’ll find inspiration in strange places. Once I have a concrete idea, I fill in the blanks at Goodwill or a friends’ closet. Here are a few costume ideas I found in my bedroom…this morning.
THE TOOTH FAIRY

This costume requires a tutu-like skirt, my tshirt that reads “Eat Cake” on it, thrifted sequin shoes from Goodwill for a little glitz and a purse of toothbrushes. I might even carry around change to give out at a party. Or mini bottles of listerine.
BRONX GRANDMA

Having lived in the Bronx for a few years, I’m well-versed in the costumery of some of the older Italian women in my old neighborhood. For this outfit I used an animal print romper, a Cheetah print coat from Goodwill, python pumps, gold jewelry and white aviators. This one will also require lots of hairspray and hot pink lipstick.
LOBSTERMAN’S WIFE
The inspiration for this came from a lobster print skirt I borrowed from a friend. I’d wear this with my Maine islands tshirt, muddy boots and carry around a lobster cracker. I might look for a yellow raincoat or another cool accessory on an upcoming Goodwill trip.
Now out of these three options, which one should I wear?
