Goodwill eBay Feature: Charmed, I’m sure

calendar May 7th, 2010 posted by Michelle Smith (171 total)

Dear readers,

While we are busy here taking care of last minute details for tomorrow’s Clothing Swap and Donation Drive, our eBay team was so kind as to send over these sweet little charms they just listed.  Now, if you remember, we featured a great antique charm bracelet in a previous post.  At that time, we made the grand sweeping judgment that charm bracelets never go out of style – and we are sticking to that observation!

This set of four Bakelite equestrian-themed charms are perfect for the horse lover in your life. The lot features two horseshoes, a boot, and a horse.  Bidding is now open and underway!

Goodwill eBay Feature: 1939 NY World’s Fair Teapot

calendar April 26th, 2010 posted by Michelle Smith (171 total)

This week’s eBay feature is quite a find – it is a Hall  China Teapot sold only at the 1939 World’s Fair in New York.  It was manufactured by the Hall China company in East Liverpool, Ohio.  The Hall China company started in 1903 and made many different types of wares.  Collectors generally  look for their wares made between the 1920s and 1950s, making this a great collectible item.  The teapot measures 6.5″ high and 9.5″ wide (from back to the spout).

The teapot holds 6 cups of tea and is in good condition – it needs to be cleaned and the gold color has some light fading.  Please see the pictures below.

Be sure to get your bid in now! A similar pot gold on eBay for $700 and the pot is currently listed at $199.  Thank you for supporting our programs!

This Friday! Grand Opening of South Portland Store

calendar March 24th, 2010 posted by Michelle Smith (171 total)

Dear readers,

Two days!  On Friday, March 26, Goodwill will be opening its new flagship store and donation center in South Portland, Maine.  And you are invited!

Join us for a ribbon cutting ceremony at 9 am.  Celebration activities door prizes every half hour from 9am-2pm, and drawings for gift cards to Goodwill and local restaurants.

The new South Portland store is located at 555 Maine Mall Road, in the former Circuit City building.  Shoppers will enjoy a newly renovated building that features a convenient donation drive-thru and information about Goodwill’s programs and services.  The new store also accepts used computer equipment through the ReConnect computer recycling program.  Goodwill recycled 1,613,000 pounds of computers in 2009.

The building is 27,000 square feet, with 16,000 square feet dedicated to retail sales.  The remaining square footage will be used for donations processing, offices, and space for the agency’s Good Clean program, the commercial cleaning arm of Goodwill that is committed to customizing its services to meet and exceed the needs of each building it maintains.  Goodwill uses Good Clean to maintain all its retail stores and offers Goodwill employees the chance to learn new skills needed to succeed in work and life.
