You may recall that we featured an antique viewmaster a few months ago.  This week’s item is the predecessor of the viewmaster – an antique, wooden Monarch stereoscopic slide viewer from 1904!  In the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, stereoscopes were all the rage – it offered people a chance to see pictures of local and faraway places in 3-D.  It also helped boost tourism in many areas, particularly New England.

Goodwill is hosting Portsmouth Green Drinks on Thursday, March 18 (tomorrow!) at Two Ceres Street Restaurant in Portsmouth.

Help us celebrate the one year anniversary of ReConnect, Goodwill’s computer recycling program.  Yours truly, and Bob Frederick, Goodwill’s Operations Manager, will also be sharing information on some of our other accomplishments and sustainability initiatives, as well as upcoming events in the Seacoast area.

For the first day of Spring, the Auburn Goodwill will be hosting a one-day only sale featuring everything you need for spring projects!  The sale is Sunday, March 21, from 10 am to 6 pm.

The sale features work jeans (Carharts, Levi’s, etc.) for only $2.49 each, hand and power tools, toolbelts, and gardening supplies.  Make sure you get there early to stock up – doors open at 10 am!

Oh my goodness!  This week’s eBay feature is a FANTASTIC find.  Someone has generously donated a brand new Roberto Cavalli evening dress (sold at Neiman Marcus).  It’s a European size 44, which is equivalent to a US size 14.  The retail value of this dress is $460.  The current bid on eBay?  $18!  There’s only four days left open in this auction, so make sure you get in on the bidding!

Help Goodwill and Bon-Ton Stuff the Truck!

The semi-annual Goodwill sale is a popular trade-in promotion between Goodwill Industries of Northern New England and Bon-Ton.  The donations dropped off at the Bon-Ton and Goodwill stores in Concord, NH and S. Burlington and Williston, VT are sold at our stores, where the revenue helps to fund job training programs and support services.

When: Wednesday, March 10, 9 am to 2 pm

Where: Stuff Goodwill’s truck at the Bon-Ton stores in Steeplegate Mall (Concord, NH) and University Mall (S. Burlington, VT) with gently-used clothing and home textiles.

In exchange for each item, donors will receive a Goodwill sale coupon for 20% off apparel and cosmetics at Bon-Ton from Wednesday, March 10 through Wednesday, March 24.
