Whatever you call it – repurposing, upcycling, redoing, or reusing – there are countless projects that crafters and artists alike share every day on the web.  Many of these projects are easy as pie and inspire us to look at old objects in a new way.  Following are some projects from the last week:

1. Do you have an old, broken drawer?

Use it as a clothes hanger!

Design Sponge featured a great project on their blog: taking old dresser drawers, dolling them up, and using them as clothes hangers.  While the post gives instructions on how to make the hangers from scratch, it’s much easier to find a pre-existing drawer.  It’s a brilliant idea, useful, and will now make me think twice about that broken down dresser at my neighbor’s yard sale.

2. What to do with all those scraps of fabric?

Why, make a lovely indoor/ outdoor banner, of course!  This is an easy, easy project that will add color and festivity to your porch, living room, or outdoor party!  Crafting a Green World features the detailed instructions you need to get started.  Also, if you live in the Seacoast region of New Hampshire, check out the lovely banner at the Portsmouth Public Library in the children’s section!

3. Thrift Store Crafting: What to Buy, What to Make

Lastly, Crafting a Green World featured a post of the same title above that shares great tips on what to hunt for in thrift stores and different projects you can make with thrift store items: record bowls, scrap books, jewelry pendants and more! (Click here to read a previous post about a local Maine crafter who makes recycled record bowls)
